Current Account of Pakistan posted a surplus of $75 million in the month August 2024, pivoting from a $152 million shortage revealed in August 2023, as per the most recent information from the SBP - State Bank of Pakistan.
This improvement is principally credited to a rise in remittances from abroad, which increased by 40% year-on-year to $2.9 billion in August.
This increased reduced the deficit of current account for the initial two months of financial year 2025 to $171 million, a 81% lessening from the $893 million shortfall recorded during a similar period in the earlier year.
