China to begin steering their internet traffic through Pakistan

During the Launch ceremony of the Carrier Neutral Pakistan Internet Exchange & Data Center in Islamabad on January 29, 2024, Caretaker IT and Telecommunication Minister, Dr. Umar Saif, proclaimed it a groundbreaking day for the Pakistan telecom and IT industry.

He reported the accomplishment of three critical achievements through coordinated effort with key entities, for example, PTCL, SCO, PTA, De CIX, PEACE cable, and China mobile.

An understanding, first and foremost, has been reached for China to channel its Internet traffic through Pakistan, situating the country as a regional hub for connectivity. This essential move is supposed to create significant revenue for Pakistan through Internet transit traffic.
