First locally assembled four-wheeled electric vehicle of Pakistan is set to launch in December.

Starting around 2022, the government of Pakistan has given 49 licenses for local assembly of two-and three-wheeled EVs, with 25 industrial facilities now functional. The first license for four-wheeled EVs was given in September 2024.

PM of Pakistan Sharif stressed the significance of settling the EV policy by November 2024, improving licensing guidelines, and fostering a financial model for EVs.

DFML - Dewan Farooque Motors Limited has started assembly of electric cars at its factory, and Chinese EV goliath BYD has likewise entered the Pakistani market.
