1,000 years before the Wright Brothers, Abbas ibn Firnas made a few endeavors to develop a machine that would fly.
In the ninth century, he planned a winged contraption, generally looking like a bird outfit. In his most popular preliminary close to Cordoba in Spain, Firnas flew vertically for a couple of seconds, prior to tumbling to the ground and to some extent crushing his back.
