Greece denoted a noteworthy moment on Wednesday as it reopened the Yeni Masjid in the northern city of Thessaloniki after over a century, permitting prayers to be held for Eid al-Fitr.
Roughly 100 people partook in the Eid prayers at the Yeni Masjid, a site not used for this reason since the early 1920s because of international movements among Greece and Turkey, which prompted a decrease in Thessaloniki's Muslim population.
