Wheat import banned in Pakistan

The Caretaker Federal Government of Pakistan has chosen to ban on the import of wheat, as per sources.

The choice was taken by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) because of stable flour prices and adequate wheat reserves in the country.

The ECC hailed the actions taken by the Ministry of National Food Security, and sources inside the government expressed that Pakistan has an adequate amount of wheat to address domestic needs.

The prohibition on state-level wheat import comes as a feature of endeavors to balance out the local wheat market and guarantee food security in the country.
