Tea imports grew by 5.53% in the first half of the ongoing financial year contrasted with a similar period last year, as per information from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The imports increased to $336.423 million from July to December 2023-24, up from $318.798 million in the same time of 2022-23. As far as amount, tea imports expanded by 9.12%, arriving at 139,751 metric tons contrasted with 128,068 metric tons.
In any case, on a year-on-year premise, tea imports in December 2023 declined by 16.80% to $58.869 million. The overall food group imports for the first half of the financial year diminished by 19.48%, totalling to $3,957.188 billion.
