Pakistan has lost practically 20% of its forest region in the last 24 years following the ascent of urbanization and dearth of energy, The News announced refering to research by the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE).
PIDE expressed that Pakistan has the most minimal rate of forestation on the planet with very nearly 27,000 hectares of forest clearance yearly. The percentage of private ownership of forest land in South Asia is highest in Pakistan and Bangladesh, 36% and 34%,respectively, according to the research.
Pakistan has 1,131 trees for every sq km (just higher than Afghanistan in South Asia) and only five trees for each individual wherewas a demanding tree level for reasonable development requires 900 trees for each individual, expresses the research.
