Pakistan's economy may grow by 2-2.5% this Fiscal Year

Caretaker Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar forecasted on Saturday that the country's economic growth will bounce back by 2-2.5% in the ongoing financial year.

Practically tending to the 'IPO Summit 2024', coordinated by Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Dr Akhtar assessed the agriculture sector to develop by 5.6% and industrial sector by 2.5% in the year.

She stood hopeful on collection of revenue in taxes, saying the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) would most likely gather PKR 10 trillion in FY24 contrasted with the set objective of PKR 9.4 trillion for the year.

Shamshad said the country's foreign exchange reserves have recently hit a high of $9.1 billion from $4 billion toward the beginning of her term being the minister.

The FM said the State Bank of Pakistan's (SBP) was insightful that the benchmark policy rate requires to descend, from current record high of 22%, to help economic activities .

In any case, the rate cut to a great extent relies upon deceleration in the inflation perusing in the country that has spiked to keep high in the new past, she added.
